Henry Bergh, the founder of the ASPCA, devoted his life to protecting animals, discovers there are no laws to protect children. Etta Wheeler, a social worker discovers Mary Ellen, a nine-year-old girl has been chained in her apartment with an abusive mother. Etta sets out to save her. The Police and Clergy are no help. She then pleads with Henry Bergh, who at first does not take the case, since, it seems the mother is not breaking laws. Eventually Bergh and his lawyer take on the case. In the meantime, Bergh takes on P.T. Barnum. The play climaxes with the burning of Barnum’s famous zoo – and the verdict in the Mary Ellen court case.

Becoming ’Merican: The Game Show is an interactive performance that turns the long, expensive, and soul-crushing U.S. citizenship process into a live game show.
Blending personal narrative, satirical poetry, and audience-driven challenges, the show invites the crowd to step inside the absurd logic of bureaucracy. Audience members become players, witnesses, and decision-makers as they navigate mock interviews, waiting rooms, paperwork tests, and cultural quizzes, where the rules are unclear, the standards keep shifting, and success is never guaranteed.
Each round exposes a different expectation of what it means to “become American”: how to sound, how to behave, what to prove, and how long to wait.

Campy Cult Cinema 3000: Eden Cried

Check out this new take on the iconic hit 1990's series, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and it's out of this world format Screening B-Movies with live commentary made by an earthling human and two robot puppets.

The Campy Cult Classic being featured is the 1967 film Eden Cried, starring Newburgh's home grown cult cinema queen Carol Holland. Holland will be giving live commentary as she watches the film with two hilarious, wise cracking, opinionated puppet friends, played by puppeteers Cabot Parsons and Cameron Garrity.

Join us for this very special event celebrating nearly 60 years since the film had its world premiere at the very same Ritz Theater.

She’s been silenced by dementia. With the help of Nurse Maria, they attempt a final conversation to bridge their lifelong emotional rift. As always, Emily steals the show.

On a scorching desert highway, perennial journeyman drifter, Booney is running towards the idea of some sort of better life in California. Joining him on his journey is Radio, a young hitchhiker experiencing disjointed visions, and a backseat full of empties. As the road shifts around them they are stalked by an ethereal, blonde carhop mirage-on roller skates. And still Booney can’t get a damn beer! As they race down the road they find there are ghosts of past and future that they can’t outrun.

The Deal
In this darkly absurdist romp, Veneer and Boular, two impeccably clad, powerful businessmen espouse the many virtues of their lifestyle. Whether it be the merits of having an office at an altitude so unnaturally high that birds literally suffocate or the simple glory of the almighty profit margin they agree that doing away with the public altogether would ease the growth of business. This delicate dance of deal making takes a wickedly twisted turn as the pact becomes a grotesque quest.

A young man in his twenties suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances. He remembers little of his life or the cause of his death. The only evidence being a bullet hole in his right temple. Though dead, his spirit remains in our world. He comes across the souls of two lovers named Darrel and Jennifer. The couple befriend the boy and attempt to teach him the ways of being a ghost. But as time goes on, the souls have no choice but to confront the morality of their actions, the lives they’ve lived, and the meaning behind their continued existence.
